Nepal, all set for e-Governance…

After the long wait, finally, the Visit to the datacenter for the MSP’s got approved due to the Continuous effort of Mr. Allen Bailochon Tuladhar, Country Manager,MDP Nepal. Firstly, we would like to thank him for such a great effort and passion towards the MSP’s.

In the beginning, we used to have our MSP meeting on different colleges but later on, we started to have it on Microsoft Unlimited Building. So, to innovate new things and with the whole idea of visiting new place that has got some real value in IT sector, we got an opportunity to visit our one and only National Datacenter, GIDC (Government Integrated Data Center). It was the first time that most of the MSP’s were inside the Singhadarbar and it was a lot of fun. When we first got in to the datacenter, we were really impressed by the infrastructure of the building and were more excited to go inside and have a look at the servers. Also, to maintain the cleanliness of the datacenter, we had to leave our shoes and slipper outside, and then, we were provided with other pairs of slippers which could be used inside the building.

Inside the datacenter, we first went to the meeting room where Mr. Allen Bailochan Tuladhar introduced us with Dr. Subarna Shakya, Executive Director, NITC and we made a self-introduced to him. Then, Dr. Subarna Shakya gave a brief description on the GIDC with its infrastructure and project implementation. He also made us know that in current status GIDC is providing internet only to the ministries. After the introduction of GIDC and its brief description, Dr. Shubarna Shakya answered someof the quires made by MSP’s. At last, we were given an opportunity to visit the Servers and the security of Datacenter. We got divided in two groups and entered to server room and control room one at a time. In control room, we got to see the security of the building as well security of the data’s on the server by the firewalls as well as a topology of the Network. We were excited to know that presently Datacenter contains 16 Terabyte of Hard disks Spaces. We also visited the server room where the normal temperature was maintained so that over heat and over cold may not create an error. We came to know that various ministries website Data has been kept there, and also presently it is providing secure internet to the ministries.

After our Tour to the Server room and control room, we returned back to the meeting hall again and had a discussion on the couple of things like farewell to old MSP’s and welcome to new MSP’s, visit to IT Park and so on. We too had a discussion on how to conduct install fest at different colleges more efficiently.

At last we would like to thank all the member staffs of GIDC for their co-operation and Dr. Subarna Shakya. Also we  would like to thank Mr. Allen Bailochan Tuladhar, Country Manager for giving us an opportunity to visit such a informative place.

  3. When the Private Character Editor launches, you’ll see the Select Code dialog box. Click OK.
  4. A user interface that looks and works very much like Paint will appear. From this, you may use standard tools to create your characters.
  5. When you finish, select the Save Character command on the Edit menu.

Once you save your new character, you can access it using the Character Map tool. Here’s how:

  1. Press [Windows]+R to open the Run dialog box.
  2. Type charmap in the Open text box and click OK.

Innovation: INSTALL FEST at THAPATHALI CAMPUS

“A single step for a man, a giant leap for mankind”, now, these words are becoming true. Sharing knowledge in community initiated by Microsoft Nepal got lifted up by the community work of MSPs today. The long wait of INSTALL FEST to be initiated ended at last. Thanks to the MSPs of Thapathali Campus, Msp. Ram Hari Regmi and Msp. Ashok Basnet, who dare to initiate this program at their college crossing all the barrier of difficulties that arose with conducting it.

INSTALL FEST is the program in which the students get knowledge about the software of Microsoft, Need of Microsoft Certification and Knowledge of Microsoft platform. In addition, there is also distribution of ELMS account to the students who haven’t activated their elms account yet, by which they can get the free genuine software of Microsoft. With similar concept, we started our program at Thapathali Campus with the great sprit to provide as much information as we can to the students. As it was scheduled, Er. Shailendra Jha, our community lead, started his presentation with the introduction of MSP program and continued about the Value of Microsoft Certification, How to get it and where to get it. Also, he introduced about the Boot Camp and other terms. He also talked to us about the free certification voucher for MCTS for those students learing at brainwork’s which was really interesting. After Er. Shailendra Jha’s presentation, it was time to inaugurate the official site of free student council of thapathali, in which Msp. Ram Hari gave a short speech on why do we need our own portal and then we had the speech of President of student council on new innovation on Information Technology which was impressive.

Arrival of Mr. Allen Bailochan Tuladhar, our Country Manager, brought life to the program and his presentation just rocked the floor. Mr. Allen introduced dreamspark, Bizpark, Student to Business as well as MSDNAA to the students. He also shared information about MSP and asked to fill the form for new MSP enroll. Quite a good number of students were interested about it. To lighten the environment, a lot of humor arose in the middle of presentations and distribution of goodies to the students was really interesting. He also introduced our first country portal msdnnepal.net and technetnepal.net and also the work of Microsoft in community. Also, he broke the news of PTA in Nepal, which is very beneficial to the students as well as professionals. After our country manager, Mr. Gandip Khaling made a presentation on Windows 7 a cutting edge technology of Microsoft, where he got to the development of Microsoft Windows form window 3.0 to the today’s new technology Windows 7. The effects on windows 7 just stunned the students…they were just saying wow!!!!

At the end of session, as usual, Mr. Allen Bailochan Tuladhar was there to solve the queries of the students and the best part was that the students were willing to share their queries, their problems and their thoughts. He also asked the MSPs to share his experience as being a MSP. MSP Kushal Gautam shared his experience of 6 months as becoming a MSP as well as he also shared his experience of TechEd tour to hyderbad. We also had Msp. Archana Maharajan to share her experience to the students which was enthusiastic to the participants. Finally, with sharing of some feedbacks and making some fun, the program ended with lot of praise of participants. In the end, we would like to thank Msp. Ram Hari Regmi and MSP. Ashok Basnet once again to initialize the install fest as this single step that left a mark to other MSP’s to do similar work will surely bring a giant leap of sharing knowledge by Microsoft Community, Nepal.

Changing Windows Vista Product key….

After the blog of changing windows XP  Product key to the genuine tips some of my friends  and colleague  ask me to blog on how to change the windows vista product key. As we know that genuine is the need of today and without genuine we cannot get update in Microsoft operating system. Not going further on language i would like to start the process how to change the Product key in Windows Vista

Here the Steps are:

1.Run Elevated Command Prompt with administrator rights or privileges. To do so, locate Command Prompt icon in Start Menu, right click on it and select “Run as Administrator”. You can also type in “command prompt” in Vista instant search, and right click on Command Prompt shortcut and then select “Run as Administrator” to enable administrator credentials. Answer yes to any UAC(User Account Control) confirmation. You can also turn off UAC.

2.In the command prompt window, type the following command:
slmgr.vbs -ipk <insert your product key here>

Replace <insert your product key here> with the 25-digit Windows Vista product key.

3.To activate windows after changing the key, run the following command in the command prompt window:
slmgr.vbs -ato

If you don’t prefer to issue commands manually on command prompt, you can use the Vista GUI (graphical user interface) to change product key.

vista-system-properties

4. Now go to System Properties window with one of the following method:
-->Right click on Computer and select Properties in the right click context menu
-->Click on Start button, then Control Panel, and then select “System” (for classic view of Control Panel).
-->Click on Start button, then Control Panel, and then System and Maintenance, and then select “System” (for normal view of Control Panel).

5.At the bottom of the System Properties window where “Windows activation” section located, click on a blue link named “Change product key” with a small shield icon next to it. Your system might need a second or two to display the change product key dialog after clicking on the link.
If Windows Vista system already in Reduced Functionality Mode, there is an option of “Retype your product key”, which is the same as “Change product key” above and will give you the opportunity to enter a new product key or license key if you want to activate Windows Vista with a new key that is not yet installed on the existing installation of Windows Vista.
