Remove Boot.com Virus....

Certain day ago i was suffering a virus which contineously crashes my windows explorer i was too much depressed by this virus but later i came know this is boot.com virus.....and I learned the way to remove it too. so here I am sharing those tips.

The following instruction you shoud follow after a Fresh reboot or in safe mode.

1) First go to the problem drive(s) through the Explore option.

2) Click TOOLS -> FOLDER OPTIONS.

3) Click the button which says "Show hidden files and folders".

4) UNCHECK the following boxes: Hide extensions for known file types Hide protected operrating system files

5) Find and delete the autorun.ini file and the resycled folder on the root directory of all affected drives.

 6) Check whether “c:\windows\system32\dllcache” for boot.com file and delete it if there is.

7) Check Whether “c:\windows\prefetch” for boot.com file and delete if if there is.

8) Delete all files and folder from c:\windows\temp (If some files may not delete, it's ok, they’re in use by the system and not virus files.)

9) Delete all files and folder from c:\Documents and Settings\[USER PROFILE]\Local Settings\Temp (Again, some files may not delete, don’t worry.)

10) Now,go to Run -> Regedit.

11) Make sure you are at the very first entry of the registry hive. (your Computer should be highlighted) then click EDIT -> FIND

12) Search for “boot.com”. If it finds an entry, delete it. Keep hitting F3 until you’ve deleted all instances of boot.com in the entire registry.

13) Scroll the left comumn back up to the top and hilight the My Computer again at the top of the registry hive.

14) Click Edit -> Find again and search for ‘resycled’ and repeat as in step 13, deleting the entries as it finds them. (I found 2 of each) 15) Close registry editor and try opening the infected drives. They should work now.

Learn IT, Do IT, Play IT, Unlearn IT and Relearn IT.

What new in Exchange 2010.

Mail Exchage server 2010 is heating up the market......expertise are getting curious to know abt it more....they are looking what the more change it has been made on it then the successful product Exchange server 2007. Here some new features of  Exchange Server 2010.

Flexible and Reliable

With Exchange, choose from on-premises deployment with Exchange Server 2010, a Microsoft hosted service with Exchange Online, or a seamless mix of both.  Microsoft's commitment to Software plus Services ensures you can decide on your timeline for taking advantage of the flexibility and power of both without interrupting or changing your users' experience.

Exchange 2010 offers a simplified approach to high availability and disaster recovery coupled with enhanced maintenance tools to help you achieve new levels of reliability to deliver business continuity.  Building on previous investments in Continuous Replication technologies in Exchange 2007, these investments:
  • Remove the need to deploy complex and costly clustering and third-party data replication products for full-scale Exchange redundancy

  • Automate mailbox database replication and failover with as few as two servers or across geographically dispersed datacenters

  • Maintain availability and fast recovery with up to 16 Exchange-managed replicas of each mailbox database

  • Limit user disruption during mailbox moves between e-mail servers, allowing you to perform migration and maintenance activities on your schedule, even during business hours

  • Guard against lost e-mail due to Transport Server upgrades or failures, through new built-in redundancy capabilities designed to intelligently redirect mail flow through another available route

Lowering the burden on your help desk and yourself is a key way in which you can accomplish more and reduce costs. This motivated investments in new self-service capabilities aimed at enabling users to perform common tasks without having to call the help desk. With this functionality you can:
  • Allow users to update their contact information and track delivery receipt information for e-mail messages, for example, without IT assistance

  • Offer an easy-to-use Web-based interface for common help desk tasks

  • Utilize the new Exchange Roles-based Access Control model to empower specialist users to perform specific tasks – like giving compliance officers the ability to conduct multi-mailbox searches – without requiring administrative control

Anywhere Access

Enhancements in the latest release of Exchange provide your users access to all of their communications from a single location while making it easier for them to collaborate with each other and their business partners.  These enhancements include the ability to:

  • Offer your users a premium Outlook experience across the desktop, Web, and mobile devices, including OWA support for browsers like Apple Safari and Mozilla Firefox

  • Unify access to e-mail, voice mail, instant messaging, and text messages enabling your users to choose the best way to communicate no matter where they are

  • Add native support for virtually every mobile device, including a premium experience with Windows Mobile, through Exchange ActiveSync

  • Share free/busy information with external business partners for fast and efficient scheduling, choosing the level of detail you wish to share

Exchange 2010 adds new productivity features that help your users easily organize and prioritize the communications in their inboxes. Your users will experience:

  • An enhanced conversation view that streamlines inbox navigation by automatically organizing message threads based on the natural conversation flow between communicating parties

  • MailTips that inform your users, before they click send, about message details that could lead to undeliverable or mis-sent e-mails, like accidentally sending confidential information to external recipients, reducing inbox clutter, extra steps, and help desk calls

With Exchange 2010, you can replace your traditional voice mail system with a unified solution integrated into the core of your communications platform. This new system will enable your users to receive their voice mail messages right in their inboxes, and manage those voice mail messages just as they do e-mail, with familiar tools like Outlook and Outlook Web Access. You will benefit from the cost-savings of voice mail systems consolidation and replacement and provide your users features like:
  • Text transcription of voice mail messages, allowing users to quickly triage messages without having to play the audio file

  • The power of a personalized auto attendant for their voice mail

  • Tools to create call answering and routing rules for individuals or groups of callers based on Caller ID and contact information ensuring that every caller gets the experience your users intend

  • Phone-based access to their whole inbox – including e-mail, calendar, and contacts – in nearly 30 languages with Outlook Voice Access

Protection and Compliance

Exchange 2010 delivers new, integrated e-mail archiving functionality–including granular multi-mailbox search, item-level retention policies and instant legal hold–making it easier to address compliance and discovery issues. Administrators get centralized control of all archives while users get direct access to their archived mail, including a familiar archive experience that does not disrupt the way they manage their inboxes every day. With these new features you can:

  • Easily move unwieldy Outlook Data Files (PSTs) from the PC back to Exchange for more efficient control and legal discovery

  • Simplify the classification of e-mail with new centrally definable Retention Policies that can be applied to individual e-mail messages or folders

  • Conduct cross-mailbox searches through an easy-to-use Web-based interface, or through Roles-based access control, empowering your HR or compliance officers to execute targeted searches

Exchange 2010 also expands Information Protection and Control support, making it easier to encrypt, moderate and block sensitive or inappropriate e-mail based on specific sender, receiver and content attributes. Key functionality enables you to:
  • Combine Exchange 2010 and Active Directory Rights Management Services (ADRMS) so that you and your users can apply Information Rights Management protection automatically to restrict access and use of information within a message–wherever it is sent.

  • Enable partners and customers to read and reply to IRM-protected mail–even if they do not have Active Directory Rights Management Services (ADRMS) on premise

  • Enable managers to review mail and either approve or block transmission

Schedule Task Manually.......how?

Tasks,processes,commands can be scheduled in Windows through Task Scheduler.

But is it possible to do this through few lines using the command prompt?

This is where the "at" command is useful

Administrator access is needed to schedule,modify or delete tasks using the "at" command.

Suppose the box needs to be shutdown at 7 pm today,this can be done by simply typing

-->at 19:00 shutdown -s

This will add this particular task in scheduler's queue which can be listed by typing just "at".

I recommend to first check the queue using this command to make sure there are no previous similar jobs queued to avoid conflict.

What if some files need to be copied from one folder to the other at a specified time automatically?

Again "at" is to the rescue.

To copy all files from the Documents folder to the Somedata folder at midnight, type the following line, and then press ENTER:

-->at 00:00 cmd /c copy C:\Documents\*.* C:\Somedata

If you want to delete scheduled tasks from the queue,issue the at /delete command,just issuing /delete will remove all scheduled jobs.

-->at 1 /delete deletes task with id 1

-->:at 2 /delete deletes task with id 2

-->at /delete will delete all pending tasks

Feel free to try out the various nuances of at as it can be very quick and powerful to automate routine tasks

SEADRAGON:for a photomania

Got digital images with enough megapixels to feel like the real estate space of the screen is insufficient? Well a project from Microsoft Live Labs, now you have a way to do justice by your pictures, by transforming them into zoomable content. In this regard, all you need to do is leverage the new Seadragon service that went live on July 30th, 2009. The service is designed to enable end users to transform virtually any web image into what Bill Crow, the Seadragon group manager at Microsoft Live Labs, referred to as a Seadragon-powered zoomable photo experience. Following the Seadragon transformation, the resulting content can be embedded into every webpage.

 “It’s really easy to create your own zoomable photos. It’s free and it doesn’t require you to sign up for anything. All you need is the URL to your web image. Paste the URL at seadragon.com and click one button. Depending on the resolution of your image, it may take a moment or two to create the zoomable version. You can then copy the link to the zoomable viewer page for your image on seadragon.com and share it on Twitter, your Facebook status, or anywhere else you choose. Or, you can do what I did for the photo above and copy a one-line script that lets you embed the zoomable viewer on your own web page, blog posting, eBay advertisement, or other web destination,” Crow noted.

Crow is by no means exaggerating when he says any URL to an image. Got a website? A blog? A Flickr account? They will all do. But the Seadragon content will deliver a far superior user experience to any static image. First off there is a matter of the sheer performance delivered. Seadragon content loads almost instantaneously, and can be navigated seamlessly with no glitches or speed deterioration, irrespective of the size of the original image. The second advantage is that users can easily jump from one detail to another in an image as far as the zoom action will permit it. And the best thing about it is that even though Deep Zoom is traditionally a feature associated with Silverlight, even users who don't have Silverlight installed can still access the content.

“The Seadragon viewer isn’t your average zoomable viewer; it includes some cool new technology that delivers stunning performance but still makes it accessible to virtually everyone,” Crow stated. “ If you have Silverlight installed (and if you don’t, you should), the viewer uses Silverlight Deep Zoom to deliver a buttery-smooth full screen zooming experience. But even if you don’t have Silverlight, the viewer will still operate using our Seadragon Ajax technology. The appearance and features are identical, but the performance will be a bit slower than with Silverlight Deep Zoom. This new dual-mode viewer makes sharing high quality, full resolution images easier than ever, without turning away any of your potential audience.”

Play with your Operating System

Start to play with your operating system now………Most of the Tricks is for the Windows XP but may also work for the Windows Vista and Windows 7.

1. What can you do with your Favorite Picture.

First of all copy the following command in you notepad and save it as desktop.ini in the drive/folder in which you want to change the background of that drive/folder.

iconarea_text=0x00FFFFFF

desktop_ini

After saving the above file desktop.ini in the targeted location you need to follow these processes.

b. On run type “Attrib +s “(location of desktop.ini)” “i.e Attrib +s “C:\Aerrow” if you want to apply the process in the folder name Aerrow which is in C drive. And click ok.

Here these codes make your explorer window of any drives or folder gets designed with fancy wallpapers. Here in iconarea image give the location of your favorite picture which you like to keep in the background of explorer. i.e “G:\Demo.jpg” and for the iconarea text this is the color of font which u like to see on your file/folder names of that drives/folder.
