Community: MSPs on GORKHA….
“Nothing has a stronger influence psychologically on their environment and especially on their children than the unlived life of the parent.” These quotes of Carl Jung are very true for the immense struggling of Nepalese people that fabricate new face of Nepal. After crossing the labyrinth of terrors and turbulence, the ultimate dream for peace knocked at every doorstep of Nepali. But there are very few brilliant heads in which influence of revolution might have stroked. Silence caused by violence might have result the heads to hang low but it also inculcated chaos to children that is hovered around the environment. As a remedy “Fulbari Summer Camp” with Davis Peace Project was introduced to Durbar Higher Secondary School at Aarupokhari, where young energetic volunteers served their best to track all round development of children coordinated by Mr. Subhash Ghimire. The main charms of this project were to setup library and provide then E-education where electricity had hardly landed.
So did Few MSP’s got chance to prove them in the premise of Durbar school through volunteering circle. Microsoft personalities like Mr. Subash Ghimire and Ms. Samjhana were followed by MSP Anil Krishnan on the first day of Camp as first troop whereas Mr. Allen Bailochan Tuladhar was followed by MSP’s Sabina, Prashant, Archana on the second last day of the project as second troop. The second troop departed at 6:30 from Lalitpur in the early morning with two guides Ms. Anjelina and Mrs. Sunita. Their adventurous journey begun soon after they reached Aaarughat! It was scheduled to reach destination at 5 pm nevertheless they showed up at late evening. It is confirmed that way to their destination had made them lag programmed time. Despite located at the heart of Gorkha, Aarupokhari is paralyzed in the means of transportation, electricity…plus other basic infrastructures. Due to which town people were exhausted with number of mountains. Their incessant footsteps seem to add no value to the distance covered but their effort was rewarded with uncountable panoramic scenes. Despite climbing mountains up and down, their disappointments were soon dissolved when they were warmly welcomed at the school. According to few MSP, their tiresome sweat of brow was insignificant in sight of respectable, homely greetings they received. A small round chair introduction on the ground was called as soon as the troop reached there. But to some MSP’s dismay introduction was not such efficient as one can hardly see each other’s face at late evening. And informal introduction with other volunteers was continued in the library. Ms. Sampada Malla, Ms. Evanne Nowak, Mr. Nimesh, Mr. Shirish, Mr. Amit Sapkota, Mr. Sanjay Gautam were the rest of the volunteers serving from the first day of the project along with Mr. Subash Ghimire from Unlimited. Small chitchat about the thorny way they had passed to be there begun with delighted remark. Besides second troop, others were eagerly waiting for the arrival of Allen sir, and are really energetic and helpful that they helped MSP Sabina and Archana to unload their luggage plus rooms were accommodated so quickly for their comfort. Everyone were so busy on chatting that no one care to catch running time due to which everyone took their dinner late night departed to their restroom.
On the last day of project, everything went as scheduled earlier. Breakfast was served by the “Aama Samuha” of Arupokahari that was followed by the computer training. It was conducted by Microsoft trainer Subash Ghimire that was supported by Allen sir and MSPs. Training was accomplished with the help of mini laptops. One of the interesting thing is that generator was there to fuel up the laptops. According to the coordinator, library will be facilitated with one desktop and laptop. “Technical term is narcissism. You can’t believe everything is your fault unless you also believe you’re all powerful” is what happened in the training. It is obvious that one can’t be easy do with the computer within seven days if they have never used it before. However in great surprise for second troop that most of the students were able to switch on, off the computer as well as painting. Using Microsoft word, Media Player were extra capsule on the last day. The student class was dismissed with the loads of compliments and feedback that they requested Allen sir for basic course of Computer. It can be concluded that they are enthusiastic to bring change in their life with the aid of computers. Lunch break interrupted teachers training; hence the staffs had to wait for a moment. Teachers were trained by Allen sir and MSPs on the last day. All the teachers were excited to learn mathematical formulas in Excel to prepare Mark sheet, so did MSPs. Soon after farewell program was commenced, where supporters were felicitated with certificates and token of love. Cultural programs sprayed fragrance to the program. MSP Sabina was overjoyed by the maximum participation of the girls. Equal opportunity means everyone will have a fair chance at being incompetent so did Aarupokhari girls’.
That was the place where one can drew a distinction between achievement and success. It can be considered that achievement is the knowledge that one have studied and worked hard and done the best that is in him/her. Success is being praised by others, and that’s nice, too, but not as important or satisfying. Morally, this project taught us to aim for achievement and forget about success. One may not be satisfied training the lads and lasses at Kathmandu valley nevertheless it was absolutely different over there that reminds us to try as hard as we may for perfection. The net result of our labors is an amazing variety of imperfectness. Everyone was surprised at their own versatility in being able to fail in so many different ways. All the volunteers departed in the early dawn with the loads of love and support.
