Enjoy to see the historic Browser.
Installing Windows Server 2008 is as simple as like installing Windows Vista & Windows 7, but in this blog I have thought to list the necessary steps here for additional information. For those guys who have never installed Vista and Windows 7 before, the entire installation process is different than it used to be in previous Microsoft Operating Systems, and notably much easier to Perform.Using Windows 7 installation routine is a major benifit, especially for a server OS. Administrators can partition the system’s hard drives during setup. More importantly , they can install the necessary AHCI or RAID storage drivers from a CD/DVD or even a USB thumb drive. Thus, error-prone date can be sent to the garbage bin.
To use Windows Server 2008 you need to meet the following hardware requirements:
| Component | Requirement |
| Processor | • Minimum: 1GHz (x86 processor) or 1.4GHz (x64 processor) • Recommended: 2GHz or faster Note: An Intel Itanium 2 processor is required for Windows Server 2008 for Itanium-based Systems |
| Memory | • Minimum: 512MB RAM • Recommended: 2GB RAM or greater • Maximum (32-bit systems): 4GB (Standard) or 64GB (Enterprise and Datacenter) • Maximum (64-bit systems): 32GB (Standard) or 2TB (Enterprise, Datacenter and Itanium-based Systems) |
| Available Disk Space | • Minimum: 10GB • Recommended: 40GB or greater Note: Computers with more than 16GB of RAM will require more disk space for paging, hibernation, and dump files |
| Drive | DVD-ROM drive |
| Display and Peripherals | • Super VGA (800 x 600) or higher-resolution monitor • Keyboard • Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device |
Processors and Memory:
The Windows Server 2008 R2 editions support the same number of physical processors and
RAM as Windows Server 2008 did, up to 64 processor sockets, and up to 2 terabytes (TB)
of RAM, for Windows Server 2008 R2 Datacenter and Itanium versions.
| Edition | Maximum # of CPUs | Maximum RAM |
| Web | 4 | 32 GB |
| Standard | 4 | 32 GB |
| Enterprise | 8 | 2 TB |
| Datacenter | 64 | 2 TB |
| Itanium | 64 | 2 TB |
| Foundation | 1 | 8 GB |

On my last blog i.e. on session 2 blog I have already mentioned what new feature has been added to the Windows Server 2008 R2. But still there might be confusion that why should I upgrade to Server 2008 R2…….why should I make my organization to upgrade to new system…also it is also not in free of cost. There are lot of question may arise on people.so Here in this blog of mine I am trying to explain some reason to upgrade on Windows Server 2008 R2.
1. Powerful hardware and scaling features Windows Server 2008 R2 supports
up to 256 logical processors. R2 also supports SLAT, which enables R2 to take advantage
of the Enhanced Page Tables feature found in the latest AMD CPUs as well as the
similar Nested Page Tables feature found in Intel’s latest processors. The combination
enables R2 servers to run with much improved memory management.
2. Improved Hyper-V Hyper-V in Windows Server 2008 R2 can now access up to 64
logical CPUs on host computers—twice Hyper-V’s initial number of supported CPUs.
Live migration enables a highly fault-tolerant virtualization infrastructure, and dynamic
addition and removal of disks simplifies backup scenarios and overall management of
virtualized resources.
3. Reduced power consumption Windows Server 2008 R2 supports Core Parking,
which dynamically turns off unused processor cores when they aren’t needed, reducing
power consumption.
4. Reduced desktop costs Windows Server 2008 R2 enables VDI technology, which
extends the functionality of RDS to provide full desktop virtualization or application
virtualization of key applications.
5. Improved server management Windows Server 2008 R2 includes a new version
of Windows PowerShell, which is now available on Server Core as well. Server Manager
can now also be used remotely.
6. Improved branch office performance and security Windows Server 2008 R2
includes BranchCache and read-only DFS-R, which extends the branch office scenarios
introduced in Windows Server 2008.
7. Improved Web server Windows Server 2008 R2 includes IIS 7.5 as well as a new
FTP server. IIS 7.5 includes a new Windows PowerShell provider for IIS management.
8. Windows PowerShell v2 Windows Server 2008 R2 includes an improved and
more powerful version of Windows PowerShell that has cmdlet support for remote
management. Windows PowerShell is now available on Server Core in Windows Server
2008 R2.
9. Improved Remote Desktop Services The new RDS features provide an improved
and more seamless user experience, especially when the client is running Windows 7.
10. Improved mobile user experience Mobile users running Windows 7 have seamless
and continuous access to corporate resources through DirectAccess. And RD Web
Access, provides users running at least Windows XP SP3 with full
access to published applications or desktops.
Windows Server R2 or in short R2 is the second release of Windows Server 2008 and the four released Windows server of Microsoft beside Windows server 2003, Windows server 2003 R2 and Windows server 2008. It isn’t a completely new release, but rather adds additional feature and refinements to the existing release of Windows Server 2008. So here we discuss the new features of Windows Server 2008 R2.
1.Licensing and Packaging Changes:-
The licensing of Windows Server 2008 R2 is very similar to that of Windows Server 2008,
and you can use Windows Server 2008 Client Access Licenses (CALs) for Windows Server 2008 R2 without having to upgrade your license. There is, however, one important difference that is introduced with Windows Server 2008 R2—there is no requirement to upgrade to Windows Server 2008 CALs when you install Windows Server 2008 R2 on a physical server that is only used with the Hyper-V role.
Another difference between Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2 licensing
is caused by the name change from Terminal Services (TS) in Windows Server 2008 to Remote Desktop Services (RDS) in Windows Server 2008 R2. This is more than just a name change.
There are also new license suite options in Windows Server 2008 R2, with the introduction
of the new Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) Standard and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure
Premium suites.
2.Virtualization:-
Direct support for server virtualization, in the form of the Hyper-V hypervisor, was one of the
most important and highly anticipated improvements in Windows Server 2008, with the release of Windows Server 2008 R2, Microsoft extends Hyper-V virtualization to include support for client desktop virtualization, and adds important new capabilities for dynamic disk allocation, live migration, and improved scalability and redundancy.
Virtualization, however, isn’t limited to machine virtualization, but also includes presentation
virtualization (RDS), application virtualization (App-V), and client desktop virtualization(VDI).
Windows Server 2008 R2 adds improvements in RDS that provide a more seamless integration with Windows 7 clients, including full support for Windows Aero and multiple monitors.Application virtualization support in R2 is improved, and the addition of the Remote Desktop Virtualization Host (RD Virtualization Host) role service enables full desktop virtualization.
3.Management:-
There are substantial improvements in the way Windows Server 2008 R2 can be managed,
both graphically and from the command line. A new version of Windows PowerShell
provides enhanced remote capabilities and is now available as an installation option for
Windows Server Core. Graphical management is also improved, with Server Manager now
fully supported remotely, and many of the management consoles are better integrated into
Server Manager, enabling remote management. The improvements in Windows PowerShell
are covered throughout the book, and we cover the specifics of setting up remote Server
Manager, installing Windows PowerShell in Server Core.
Windows Server 2008 R2 includes a new Active Directory (AD) schema that enables an AD
Recycle Bin, a new set of Active Directory Windows PowerShell cmdlets, and improvements in daily AD administration.
4.Scalability:-
Windows Server 2008 R2 is the first version of Windows Server to support only 64-bit processors.Further,Windows Server 2008 R2 now supports up to 256 logical processor cores for a single operating system instance. Hyper-V virtual machines are able to address up to 64 logical cores in a single host. With the improvements in storage performance and efficiency, and reduced graphical user interface (GUI) overhead, this gives Windows Server 2008 R2 the ability to scale up to larger workloads. Additionally, the R2 version of Hyper-V also adds performance enhancements that increase virtual machine performance and reduce power consumption. Hyper-V now supports Second Level Address Translation (SLAT), which uses new features on today’s CPUs to improve virtual machine (VM) performance while reducing processing load on the Windows Hypervisor. These improvements increase your ability to consolidate workloads and servers onto fewer physical servers, reducing administration overhead, power consumption, and rack costs.
Network Load Balancing (NLB) allows Windows Server 2008 R2 to scale out across multiple
servers. Windows Server 2008 R2 includes improvements in support for applications and
services that require persistent connections and also improves the health monitoring of NLB
clusters and the applications and services running on them.
5.Web:-
Windows Server 2008 R2 includes Internet Information Services (IIS) 7.5, an improved and
updated version of the IIS 7 that was included in Windows Server 2008. Windows Server 2008 R2 also includes a new Windows PowerShell provider for IIS to facilitate the automation of management tasks. This Windows PowerShell provider is available on Server Core installations of Windows Server 2008 R2 as well as full installations. IIS 7.5 also includes a new File Transfer Protocol (FTP) server that supports Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6), Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), and Unicode characters.Server Core can now include the Microsoft .NET Framework, giving administrators the ability to manage IIS from Windows PowerShell or IIS Manager. As with many other areas of R2, IIS 7.5 includes a Best Practices Analyzer (BPA) to simplify troubleshooting and configuration of IIS.
6.Networking and Access:-
One of the most exciting new features in Windows Server 2008 R2 is DirectAccess, a new way to securely connect remote clients to the corporate network. The most common method has been virtual private networks (VPNs), which often require third-party client software running on the client, and can be time-consuming to configure and troubleshoot. With Windows Server 2008 R2 and DirectAccess, if the client is running Windows 7, the remote user has seamless, always-on remote access to corporate resources that does not compromise the secure aspects of remote connectivity.DirectAccess works with the Network Access Protection (NAP) of Windows Server 2008 R2 to ensure that client computers meet your system health requirements, such as having security updates and antimalware definitions installed, before allowing a DirectAccess connection.
7.SYNCS better with Windows 7:-
Many of the enhancements of Windows Server 2008 R2 are independent of the client operating system being used, but others, such as DirectAccess, only work with Windows 7 clients. Others, as is the case with the new RDS features, work better with a Windows 7 client, but are still important improvements even if you’re running Windows Vista or Windows XP. Some of the things that make Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 work better together (and the technologies that enable them) are the following:
-
Simplified remote connectivity for remote users (DirectAccess)
-
Secure remote connectivity, even from public computers (Remote Workplace plus RD
Gateway and RD Session Host)
-
Improved branch office performance and security (BranchCache and read-only Distribute
-
File System Replication [DFS-R])
-
More efficient power management where the hardware supports it (Group Policy)
-
Virtualized desktops (VDI)
-
Improved removable drive security (BitLocker To Go)

Server……………I don’t think now there are much people unfamiliar with these words. While I was in class 9-10 i use to go on some computer training of some Basic office…….that was the first time i heard the word server…..They use to say “internet works under the server and if the server goes down the internet also goes down”. This was the words people use to say earlier…..and I too was eager to know about the server.what is server? Later on I came to know about it…..as after being the MSP and taking the course of MCSE….it is now very familiar word to me. And through this blog I am going to share the Knowledge of server to you guys
What is server?
Question seems to be simple but the answer is vast….if i go through the English dictionary it says “the one who serves to other”….and in term of computer science it says “a computer that provides client stations with access to files and printers as shared resources to a computer network” so simply comparing to the real life we can take an example of the relation between client and waiter in restaurant….waiter are the server who serves the client according to their needs and same things happen to in digital world also…server machine fulfill the needs of the client computer as an accordance.
As the need of manager in the office is to manage the work or to make the mutual understanding between the resource and worker…..Server is similar thing as that of manager….it manages the resources to the client computer.
Looking toward the Windows server…First Windows server was released on year 2003 named under Windows Server 2003, later Windows server 2003 R2 was released on year 2005 which is also know was update release. After that Windows server 2008 was released on Year 2008, similarly the update release of Server 2008 was made on year 2009 which is also called as Windows Server 2008 R2.
Normally, Windows server are of four types
But in case of Windows Server 2008 R2 we do have more types that are
Description About these Server are done in coming session of Blogs.

Fren: Hey Aerrow got a problem…can you help me?
Aerrow: Ya sure.
Fren: I do have a 2 hotmail ID….I want to check the both email from a single hotmail id…Can you help me on this?
Aerrow: ya sure….Why not?
Fren: so how can I do these things?
Aerrow: here your solution is …..
This was a small conversation of me and my fren which is now becoming a common problem for lot of people. They do have a lot of email id for each people mostly young guys with for the different gurls. But when the time come to check inbox of all these email ID’s then there arise a tension. How to go each email id and check Inbox? So guys there the solution of your problem. Here in this blog I am trying to provide you the tutorial how to make your single email id connected with your multiple email id.
Here we go…..
First Open your email…ie which you open frequently…….as shown in the picture click in the option menu and go to more option TAB.
As shown in my next picture below you can see the new page on your internet Browser.
This is the more option menu you get. From here our processes start to manage our email accounts
1. How to manage your multiple E-mail account?
- Click on the menu Send and receive mail from other e-mail accounts
- New page will open with the screen
so in this page you can see the options to receive email for the different e-mail id and also to send the email from your this email id with the name of your another email id.let we start from receiving the email id from the another account.
just click on the option receive email for the different e-mail id and you will see the below screen.

Just fill the form of the window and click on SAVE button………..now you don’t need to open other e-mail accounts……..you can receive your mail within this email ID.
secondly, you are using your email ID abc@live.com but you wish to send the mail to other people with the email ID def@live.com without logging out from your current email id. This can be possible, just you need to is click on the option add another account to send mail from. just add your email Id in the below browser you got the access to your mail. but you need to verify first that you are authorize to use this email from your next ID.
2. Forward Mail to another E-mail account.
This is the second process you can do with your email that you need to check often, just click on the menu Forward Mail to another E-mail Account. select option as in picture….fill the box and save it.
3.How to send automatic Vacation reply?
People mostly like to go on vacation……want to get rid of all tiredness and stay away from internet for a while…….at that moment this option of the live mail could be beneficial to use….as before just click on the menu send automatic vacation replies….next window will open, type your mail what you want to reply automatic to the people who mailed you.click on Save. done………..now you have no worry to your email…….whenever you get email……..it automatically responses to it.

This is my fifth episode of command………i have been continuously blogging about the power of CMD (Command Prompt) on my blog. Here the next blog about command i.e. the knowledge of it I am trying to share….hope this will also be fruitful to you guys. Everyone knows the command but only some people knows that even with the help of only command you can code you webpage or write any document i.e *.html or *.doc.This blog is about such tricks you can perform in command. Such kind of things can be done on EDIT of the command.
How to get the EDIT window in command?
Go to run—>type CMD
A black screen with blinking cursor appears
then type EDIT in your command Prompt and at a moment you get the blue screen background with the TAB containing FILE,EDIT, SEARCH…..e.t.c. as shown in picture below.
so for this thing you can say the mini word………..you can have a something facility as you get in you Microsoft Word. The great thing is you can even work with your mouse pointer in this window also.
Though I am not a good developer or good web designer but still here in this window I have tried to design simple webpage……here the snapshot of it.
so you guys can also try different stuffs in this EDIT of Command……get exploring on command……
I recently was going through forum of technetnepal.net and at that moment i just got new that in Windows vista and Windows 7 there is no SMTP service included with FTP services of IIS. Here SMTP service used to ship with IIS 6.0. However, IIS 7.0 does not ship a SMTP service.
After scouring around on the web and trying various SMTP service solutions, the one that I found to be pretty simple to install and configure is hMailServer. Just like the old SMTP that ships with IIS 6.0, hMailServer allows one to restrict access to the local machine (127.0.0.1) only in order to prevent being vulnerable to spam. i.e. I have to use the Third party tool to enable SMTP service in my Windows vista and Windows 7
Some pointers on ensuring you restrict access to your local machine only.
Firstly, only allow SMTP protocol.
Next ensure that you restrict the IP address to the local host.
There are various other settings that can be tweaked, but out of the box with the above recommended settings should work well.
The Problem Steps Recorder (PSR) is a great new feature that helps in troubleshooting a system. At times, Remote Assistance may not be possible. However, if a person types PSR in their Instant Search, it will launch the recorder. Now they can perform the actions needed to recreate the problem and each click will record the screen and the step. They can even add comments. Once complete, the PSR compiles the whole thing into an MHTML file and zips it up so that it can be e-mailed for analysis to the network admin (or family problem solver, depending on how it's being used).
Enjoy sharing your problem with PSR and get solve easily.
