
Microsoft Gaming.Day, organized by Unlimited and Brain Works at Microsoft Innovation Center Nepal, Khichapokhari.
8 Microsoft Student Partners acted as Volunteers at this event including me. I was there with the camera. It started at 10 A.M. This was an event to show case the gaming side of Microsoft. There were 2 Kinects, 1 XBOX 360, Windows Phone, Panel PC's for gaming. There were about 8 games which participants can play on these devices for NPR.150. The main games were Kinect Adventure, Car Race, Microsoft Flight, Air Soccer, Pinball, Space Travel, Dance Channel. All the attendees got a chance to experience the technology out there. Everyone who played loved the games. "Am going to buy a Kinect soon", said Shaksham Baral, a participant from Nepal Engineering College. Since the event was small and there were less participants( about 22), the volunteers and the staffs also got a chance to experience those games.

I also played a game Kinect Adventure and felt that technology has developed so much. The game was a motion sensor, it moved according to how i move. I really liked this one. The other one is Dance Channel. It was just learning and performing dances live. Most of the participants of this event was students. "Registration fee of Rs. 150 was total worth it", said Ayush Dangol a participant from Hill-Town International School. There were 6 gaming shifts of one hour each. For me Gaming Day was a new experience and i liked it. The technologies here were really a boon for game lovers.
Overall, Gaming Day went Good.

If you want to display a message at Windows Startup in Windows 8 to show any rule or policy to use your PC, then follow these steps:
1 – Open Run by pressing WIN + R button from your keyboard.

2 – Then open Registry Editor by tying regedit in the Run Open field and hit Enter.

3 – Then navigate to this locationHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System in the Registry Editor and double click on System.

4 – Then, in the right pane of Registry Editor, right click on Legalnoticecaption and select Modify… from the menu.

5 – After selecting Modify a Dialog box will open. Type the text in the Value Data you want to see in the menu bar and click OK button to save the changes.

6 – Then, in the right pane of Registry Editor, right click on Legalnoticetext and select Modify… from the menu.

7 – After selecting Modify a Dialog box will open. Type the text message in the Value Data you want to display at Windows 8 Startup and click OK button to save the changes.

8 – Now at every Windows 8 Startup, this message will display.
Most of the viruses enter into your PC from USB flash drives.
To disable or restrict USB flash drive in your Windows 8 PC then follow these steps:
1 – Open Run by pressing WIN + R button from your computer keyboard.

2 – Then open Registry Editor by tying regedit in the Run Open field and hit Enter.

3 – Then navigate to following locationHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\UsbStor in the Registry Editor and double click on Usbstor.

4 – Then, in the right pane of Registry Editor, right click on Start and select Modify… from the menu.

5 – After selecting Modify a Dialog box will open. Change the Value Data of Start from 3 to 4 and click OKbutton to save the changes.

6 – Now Reboot your PC to effect the changes.
7 – This Registry tweak will disable the USB ports from your computer for Windows 8 and doesn’t detect any USB device. If you want to enable USB Flash drive again, then repeat the above steps and change the Value Data of Start from 4 to 3 again.

With the arrival of Windows 8, every Windows Lover is trying to explorer new features of Windows 8. Windows 8 has got a new feature to switch between two applications in an instance of time but the ALT+Tab feature to switch between applications is not available in Windows 8.
1 – Go to one of the opened Application.
2 – Take your Mouse to the left corner side of that opened application.
3 – You can see a Small Window at the left corner side which is showing other opened application. Click thatSmall Window and switch to that application.
4 – Similarly when you move to other application, take your Mouse to the left corner side of that application and you can see a Small Window, showing other opened application. Click that Window to switch applications again.
People always want to introduce themselves in their emails with the help of their personal email signature which is usually present at the bottom of the email.
Steps to create your own personal email signature in Windows Live Hotmail:
1 – Sign into your Windows Live Hotmail account.

2 – Go to your Inbox and select Options > More Options

3 – In More Options, you can see all the options then select Personal email signature present under the category of Writing email.

4 – When you click on the Personal email signature then you can create/change the personal email signature. Your personal email signature will added to the bottom of each email message you send.

After following the above mentioned steps you can create your own personal email signature in Windows Live Hotmail.
You are out of office and someone contacts you on your email address but he don’t know that you are on vacation or busy at some events. The best thing is that Windows Live Hotmail allows you to solve this problem through the automatic vacation reply email feature.
Follow the steps:
1- Login into your Windows Live Hotmail account.

2- Go to your Inbox and select Options > More Options.

3- In More Options, you can see all the options then select Sending automated vacation replies present under the category of Managing your account.

4- Now select Send vacation replies to people who email me and enter your message which will show in the auto-reply email when you are out of office

Printing the documents and emails is a basic part of our life. Ever since the email evolved, the use of paper may have reduce to a bit but its values has remained the same.Windows live Hotmail provides the user, the easiest and the fastest way to print more and more emails, as they wanted.
Windows Live Hotmail has this feature that Yahoo and Gmail don’t provide.This is to print one or more than one email, with a single Print button.
Let us show some of the workings.
1 – After sign in to your Windows Live account, go to Inbox, and select the messages, which you desire to print.

2 – Now this is final task for Windows Live Hotmail users. Click the Printer or press (Ctrl+Shift +P).

3 – Then, another window opens, showing your selected email to be printed.

4 – That’s all; now grant the access to the printer.

f you have multiple email accounts like on Gmail, Yahoo and AOL Mail etc. and you want to access these email accounts from one place. By using Windows Live Account, you can send and receive your email from all these accounts from one place.
Follow the following steps:
1 – Log into your Windows Live account by using your credentials and on the Inbox click on the Tools icon.

2 – Then a Menu will open. Select Get email from another account option from the Menu.

3 – Click on Add an email account option from the newly opened window.

4 – Enter email address and password of the account which you want to add and Click Next Button.

5 – Then, create a separate folder or select an existing folder where you want your emails from the account of have just linked, to go. Click Save Button to save all the changes.

6 – Now you will receive an email at this account, to verify that you own this email address. Verify this using the given link.

7 – Then, here it goes you can now access this email account from Windows Live account as well.


To always load Internet Explorer 9 in Full Screen Mode, Open Regedit
- Navigate to this location: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main
- To the right of Main, Locate the value Fullscreen
- Change the Fullscreen value to Yes

While surfing the web, there are times when you accidentally close some or all the browser tabs and may want to restore them at a later point of time. If you are using Internet Explorer 9 and want to quickly reopen the last closed websites or tabs, here are the steps you have to follow:
- Open Internet Explorer and enable viewing of the Command Bar.
- Now click Tools > Reopen last browsing session and you are done.

This will automatically resume the websites or browser tabs that were active during the last browsing session. It’s a great way to open the same websites from the last time you used IE.
Note: If you have cleared your browsing history and deleted all the temporary internet files, you may not be able to restore the last browsing session in Internet Explorer 9.
Another way to resume browsing session in Internet Explorer9 is to open a new browser tab and click “Reopen closed tabs” or “Reopen last session” from the bottom of the page. You will see thumbnails of most visited websites on the top of the page, as shown below:

Sometimes, you need to change the size of the text/font in Internet Explorer 9 because the text is bit small to read or it is way too large. So, you can make webpages easier to read by changing the text size.

You have to go to the Page menu in Command Bar, click Zoom and then select the zooming percentage you like. This will zoom the whole page including text and images. You can also use the Ctrl + or Ctrl - shortcut keys to Zoom in or out from the webpage and Ctrl + Zero to get back to default setting.

1 – Open the PowerPoint 2010 presentation which you want to convert to video.

2 – Click on File option and select Save & Send option.

3 – Then select Create a Video option.

4 – After selecting Create a Video option, choose size of the video, time to spend on each slide (in seconds) and then click on Create Video button.

5 – Now Save the video in the location where you want.

6 – PowerPoint 2010 is now converting PowerPoint presentation to video. You can see the Progress bar at lower portion of PowerPoint presentation.

7 – Now you can see your PowerPoint 2010 presentation in the video form (.wmv format).

1 – Sign into your Facebook account.
2 – Go to www.Docs.com
3 – Then click Add a Doc option > select Upload a Doc option from opened Webpage.

4 – After clicking Upload a Doc option, an Upload a Doc Web Form will open. Select a document you want to upload by clicking Browse button. Set the tags in the Tag box (if you want) and check the checkbox under Share with option, whom you want to share this document in your Facebook account. In the end click Uploadbutton to upload the Document.

1 – Open your Microsoft Word 2010 document.
2 – Go to File Tab > select Options.

3 – A dialog box will open. Select Quick Access Toolbar from opened dialog box.

4 – Select Commands Not in the Ribbon option from drop down menu under Choose Command From.

5 – Then scroll down in the box under drop down menu and select Speak option. Now click Add Button to add Speak option to Quick Access Toolbar at upper left corner of Microsoft Word 2010 document and in the end, click OK button to save the changes.

6 – Now you can see that Speak Button is added to Quick Access Toolbar at upper left corner of Microsoft Word 2010 document.

7 – Select the text from your Word 2010 document which you want Word 2010 to read out loud and click Speakbutton from Quick Access Toolbar.

1 – Launch Word 2010 document.
2 – Go to File Tab > Click Info.

3 – Then select Recover Unsaved Documents option by clicking arrow on Manage Versions Button.

4 – Now you can see all unsaved word files in the Dialog box. Select the file which you want to recover and click Open Button.

5 – After clicking Open Button, the unsaved selected Word file will open. Click Save as Button on Yellow band labeled as Recover Unsaved File, to save the recovered Word file.
