How much do you link the space bar of the keyboard. If yes, then be careful while you are in the Metro UI of the windows 8.

Hitting the space bar while in metro UI selects the app with the options on the bottom as in the picture below.

You can move the selection of the options (white box in option) to left or right using the arrow keys.

Hitting the space bar will run the option you have selected.

But quickly hitting the space bar twice can unpin your app. So be careful while using space bar in Metro UI.

So what to do if you quickly hit the space bar twice and need the app again. Here is the way.

1. In the metro UI, start typing the app you need.
2. Then right-click the app and the option appears. There select "Pin to start".
3. You are done. The app is back in the Metro UI. Just move the app to your desired position.

Before at September, Microsoft launched its new operation system as Windows Developers Preview. More than 3 millions copy was downloaded. Slowly some people left using the developer preview. But now that the beta version now called Consumer Version is finally going to be released tomorrow and will be available for download, people are again talking about windows 8. Some of the new things in windows 8 are:

1. New Windows Logo

2. Removal of Start button

3. Replacement of Zune (becauseXbox will be the main entertainment system for windows 8)

4. Windows Live will be no more.

5. New sky-drive metro app

6. Games like angry birds, Full House Poker, and Ms. Splosion Man.

7. Mail, messaging, camera etc are some of the metro style apps pre-installed in the windows.

We use Hotmail, yahoo, Google, Facebook, twitter. We have online banking. We do much of our things online. Every time we talk  about the security. Though a high security measures have been implemented, Facebook's maker Mark Zuckerberg's account was hacked and his photos were posted in various sites.   

STRATFOR is a global intelligent company whose main focus is to help the clients with the security. On December 24,2011 , STRATFOR's website was hacked by a group called "Anonymous" who once warned to hack Facebook too. Anonymous has disclosed personally identifiable information and related credit card data of some of their members.It has been found that the amount from the credit card information that the anonymous got was $100000 and said that they are going to donate the money to the charity. If the company that provides security isn't secure, the what about others? So, are we really secure? Think about it.

Windows 8 has changed the way we look at icons. We now see live tiles in metro UI instead of start menu. There are already  tools to get metro UI look in windows 7. I am sure that who ever has experienced metro UI from windows 8 are sure to love this trick.

And the trick is to get the Metro UI look for your browser. See the home page of your web browser to be more like a windows metro UI look?

1. Download the file (click to download)  and then extract the file.
2. Copy the file in the secure location.
3. Open the folder and then run the index.html.
4. Now you can see the Metro UI look in your web browser.
5. Now make this page as your home page.

If you want to bring changes to the tiles, then you have to modify source.js inside the downloaded folder. Change title for site title, url for site address, thumb for the display picture.

Microsoft released the Live SDK for windows 8.The Live SDK provides a set of controls and APIs that enable applications to integrate Single Sign On (SSO) with Windows Live ID and access information from SkyDrive, Hotmail and Windows Live Messenger. Microsoft launched developers preview of Windows 8 in mid September of 2011. It was really a big hit. Steve Balmer announced that over 500,000 dowload took place in less than 24 hours for the developers preview. The developer preview had some bugs. It still don't support some hardware but the released version was a hit. So think of the beta version. More bugs will have been removed, more hardware will be compatible and many more features too will be added in the beta version. Who knows , the missing email feature in MetroUI will be managed in beta version.

There is a rumor that the beta version of the windows 8 will be released in February 2012. If the rumor happens to be true then the final full version might be released in June 2012.

Microsoft newly launched windows 8 developer preview was so amazing that people loved it. People downloaded a millions of copies in midnight. The MetroUI was the coolest feature to see in windows 8. But not letting the users change the UI background was little disappointing. 
There was a leak that user will be able to customize the MetroUI background. Similar to how the user tile is changed using control panel of MeroUI, the customization of UI background will be available in control panel.

This feature is still on the development. So lets hope it comes out soon.

As the re-imagined operating system, Window 8 developer preview came from Microsoft, new jargon came too. Yes it is- “CHARM”. It is the first windows 8 trademark.

Like a old operating system, windows 8 comes with no start menu. Its been replaced by the metro UI. It has got live tiles. This Metro UI can be accessed from the Charm. Altogether there are five options in charm.

1. Settings- sidebar with many application options
2. Devices- to see connected devices
3. Share- sharing on social networking sites
4. Search- searching applications and Metro UI apps
5. Start- going to the tiled Metro UI or desktop

If you are using the touch screen devices you can get the charm by swiping from the right side. For the non-touch screen, charm can be accessed by moving the mouse pointer to bottom-left corner of the screen.

If your college have a Microsoft Student Partners, then you can also contact him/her.

Step 2:

Now you clicked the link, you will reach the registration page as shown below. Fill up the form and click Register.

Step 3:

Now the page full of software opens. Click the one you need.

Now Add to cart which version you want to download.

Step 5:

After you finished adding to the cart,Check out.

Step 6:

Now you will see a MSDNAA EULA. Read the EULA for safety. Then click “I accept”

Step 7:

Now click continue.

Click “Proceed with order”.

Step 9:

After  that the page will try to retrieve the serial number. All of the software may not generate serial keys.

Step 10:

Now the serial key has been retrieved,  copy down the serial key.

Step 11:

Now click the Download option.

Step 12:

A new window appears. Click the software name as shown below.

Step 13:

Again  a new windows appears and Click “Start download”. It will download a file with the icon 

Step 14:

Run the downloaded file.

Step 15:

A new windows appears. “Browse” where you want your download file to be saved. Then clcik “Start Download”.

The  download starts. It just works like a download manager. Do now delete the files in the download folder. Later while you run the download file with the icon ,you will see a resume button to resume your download again.

According to Jason Garms (Partner Group Program Manager, for Reliability, security and privacy team), there is an improved security system in Windows 8.

Windows defender, Internet Explorer 10, and a smart screen are the features that will help user to be protected from malwares. One of the key features in helping protect against malwares is Windows 8 Secure Boot too. “The improvements in Windows defender will help protect you from all types of malwares, including viruses, worms, bots and rootkits”, said Jason Garms.

A file system filter will be used by Windows defender for real time detection and protection from the malwares. Windows Defender will also load the properly signed and validated code during the boot, hence helping the protection from Malware at the time of boot. This is the advantage of Secure Boot. This means that you are safe from the boot sector and boot loader viruses.

Windows defender in Windows 8 is much more improved. It only adds 4% CPU to boot time and also it helps in improving battery life as it consumes less power.

“We’re continuing to work with antimalware partners during the Windows 8 development process so you have the best possible Windows PC experience no matter what antimalware solution you choose,” said Garms. SmartScreen filtering is sure to keep users away from opening malicious websites or downloading malicious files. Windows 8 folder option has two new entries:

• Use SmartScreen to check files
• Never run downloaded programs that are unknown to SmartScreen

In window 8 you don't need to do a long process to restart explorer.

step1: Open Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt+Del).

Step2: Go to Process Tab.

Step3: Search for explorer.exe

Step 4: Right click it and click Restart.

For windows Xp, Vista and 7

Step 1: Open Task Manager.

Step 2: Go to process Tab.

Step 3: Search for explorer.exe.

Step 4: Right click it and click End Process.

Step 5: In the Task Manager, goto File---->New Task(Run...)--->Type explorer and hit enter.

Just before i installed windows 8 i was still on windows XP. My desktop configration was low and i wasnt able to install windows 7. Its P4, 1GB RAM.Its low

,right?Should i get my desktop upgraded?

Now Microsoft gave its Windows 8 developers preview. I am happy to us advanced features than windows 7 in the same old computer.
