“Time and Tide waits for none

But I always know its value, when its gone”

16th September, 2010 was the day our "4th MSP meeting" was held. Like they say "big things come in small package" same goes for the MSP meetings. I don't know why I can't afford to miss these meetings, there's always something new in every meeting.

Time Management (Allen sir)

This topic was striking in my mind (other MSP's too) when I heard about Allen sir would be presenting it.  This was what every students needed, because we are so busy in our day-to-day life that we don't even have time to look at our watch. Basically what i understood was, it’s about managing life with respect to time. You don't have to go far to understand time management,  just look closely at your watch. What do you see???? Before you jump to any answers, let me explain.

Compass and the clock are the two most important part of a watch. Take clock  as your the ultimate goal(aim) of your life , its what you actually want to be. In the other hand , compass is  the direction. So, compass and clock can be related as nail and flesh, they are interconnected. You cant reach the clock if your compass is not right  Your current activities will drive you in the direction you are moving..

Sharpen your saw

The next thing that caught my attention was "sharpening your saw". Most of students don't think about some questions like what am I doing? What do I want from life? . Its time , step back and think what i want to do with my life? Should I follow my heart or brains? i would say don't go with the " go with the flow" attitude, take time to sharpen your saw, follow what you actually want o do. I think the movie “3 idiots " give us the basic idea about sharpening the saw, like Farhan Qureshi did in that movie.

Time Matrix

Put your life in time matrix. For that what you need to do is:

Divide your life into four quadrants.

In the first quadrant (Q1), Urgent and Important

In the second (Q2), Important - Not Urgent

In the third quadrant (Q3), Urgent - Not Important

In the fourth quadrant (Q4), Not Urgent - Not Important

Now put your day-to-day activities and priorities in these Quadrants. Allen sit told in the presentation that Q1= Necessity, Q2 = Leadership and effectiveness, Q3 = Deception and Q4 = Waste and access which is in my view very much true. So choose your quadrant and plan your life from today because planning is the best way to get results.

Start Planning

The best way to plan is jot-it-down (write it). Don't plan about a year but rather break it down into monthly, or weekly or daily. It might be 30 minutes a week or 3 minutes a day. There can be lot of excuses not to write but it’s just a habit and no one is born with habits and new good habits can be made.

4th MSP meeting (conducted by Pradip Kandel sir)

A lot of things were discussed in this session. It was more interactive because we had one to one discussion with anyone in the room. I got informations about upcoming events and install fests. Locus was the event organized by IOE pulchowk and Drishti by KEC kalimati , these two were the nearing events about which we discussed the ways to conduct it.

Books

MCSE in a nutshell was the books given to MSP's to read and write a blog on it. Two books were distributed in which I got one and another Dicchya Shakya(MSP2011, IOE pulchowk) . I was more than happy to get this book because it was my ladder which could help to get one step closer to MCSE certifications. This is the second book I got on Server ,  the first one was Windows Server 2008 which I got in MSP SummIT 2010 as a prize.

Conclusion: To conclude this blog I would say " prioritize your priority and thus manage your time:
