MIC Nepal Invites Students of MICNIC Premium FY18 Network to apply to become a Microsoft Student Partner from their colleges.

MIC Nepal has opened up the application for MSPs  for Fiscal year 2018. Colleges where we're nominating MSPs   are from ALL Public and Private Colleges in Nepal that have a formal MOU in place with MIC Nepal. If their application is successful, they will be awarded as Microsoft Student Partner
(MSP) status for one academic year from July to June end. During this time, they can refer to themselves as a Microsoft Student Partner and act as an official representative of Microsoft at their  college/university. More details on the program can be gotten from http://www.mspnepal.com/

MIC Nepal has currently 133 Microsoft Student Partner from different IT, Engineering and Management colleges, universities of Nepal.

First ever regional leg of world’s premier student technology competition sees Nepal(Three Microsoft Student Partners representing one Team) selected to compete at Imagine Cup World Finals in Seattle

Team Nepal was able to grab coveted spots in the Imagine Cup World Finals after competing in Imagine Cup Regional Finals

Microsoft innovation Center Nepal conducted Imagine Cup National Finals for the fourth time in Nepal. Imagine Cup Nepal for this year started with registration of team and submission of application at ImagineCupNepal from January. On 23rd March, All applications which were submitted in Imagine Cup Nepal site were reviewed by three personalities Alok Kumar Pandey, CTO, Braindigit, Microsoft Valuable Professional,Rabi Rayamajhi, Private Sector Development Advisor, Department for International Development and Viplava Joshy Founder/Director Solutions Consultant. As judges reviewed the entries submitted for this year’s competition, it was quite a challenge for them to select the top 5 teams from Nepal to qualify for National finals of Imagine Cup. After several discussions, following top 5 teams were selected to qualify to national finals:

• Dynamic Developer

• Echo Innovators

• SochWare

• Team Victorious

• Neon Studios

After this,MIC Nepal conducted Imagine Cup National Finals on April 11, 2017 in Kathmandu, Nepal where top 5 teams were there to pitch their valuable ideas for the competition. The competition were judged by three personalities Ineke Stoneham, Spokesperson (Embassy of the US), Renaud Meyer, Country Director (UNDP Nepal) and Chang Agrawal, Director (Himalaya TV).

Among top 5 teams, Team Echo Innovators was announced as the winner in the competition and was selected to participate in Regional Finals which had taken place at Manila, Philippines on April 24, 2017.

Southeast Asia Regional Finals Competition Day was held at Solaire Theater, one of the best theater in Manila hosting 1400 audience, bringing the best of the best in the region a once in a life time experience!

There were teams from 10 different countries at Imagine Cup Southeast Asia 2017:

Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Nepal, Thailand and Laos.

On April 25,2017 Microsoft announced that Team Echo Innovators from Nepal won the Regional Semi-Finals and will proceed to the finals in the US for Imagine Cup Finals in Seattle, US as a Worldwide Finalist. The team Echo Innovators consists of 3 members Melisha Ghimire, Bhupendra Ojha and Pradip Subedi with the mentor Sandesh Karki.

Melisha Ghimire, CEO of Echo Innovators is an IOT Developer and currently studying Computer Engineering at Kantipur Engineering College.

Bhupendra Ojha, Lead Developer and CTO of Echo Innovators is also currently studying Computer Engineering at Kantipur Engineering College.

Pradip Subedi who is a Web Developer and CMO of Echo Innovators is a student of BSC-CSIT at Swastik College.

All the three dynamic team members of Echo Innovators are an MSP (Microsoft Student Partners) from Kantipur Engineering College and Swastik College.

Team Echo Innovators was there with their solution 'FarmLi'. FarmLi is an attempt to bring livestock farming, machine learning, cloud computing and IoT together to solve livestock problems. It is a smart neck band which is connected to a mobile application which monitors temperature, activity and behaviour of each individual animal. Their actionable recommendations help significantly improve income on dairy farms.

Microsoft Imagine Cup is the world’s premier student technology program and competition. It provides an opportunity for student technologists, developers and aspiring entrepreneurs from all academic backgrounds to collaborate, develop a technology application, create a business plan and gain a keen understanding of what is needed to bring a concept to market.
