keep your important files frm D:

Run: diskmgmt.msc

I dont think this is possible with out formating C:( sysmet drive)

To do this i can give you some idea over here..............

First of all Transfor all Important data from C: and D: drive to another location and

You have to go to install your OS again. While installing OS you can delete that C: and  D: logical space

and make new logical Drive as much space you want.

And then install the OS in your new partition and injoy!!!!

At first, your are in wrong drive, Extend Volume C: not that "Free space" one, and only possible if it is "unallocated" not "Free space", the green color indicates free space, and black color indicates unallocated drive, note it. And this is possible in Windows 7.

When i try diskmgmt.msc. It does not show the option of extending the c:. The option is available in other drives

if you using windows 7 then you can "shrink" or "extend" your partition.

I agree with Mahesh. The extend volume option is available for all other volumes except my C: drive. Can't I extend my C: drive?

In my system, the thing that's confusing me is that my C: drive is not being marked as a primary partition. It was supposed to be my primary partition, wasn't it? Look, it doesn't have the blue marker at the top. And doesn't offer me the extend, delete or format option.

@Gandip Dai,

Here is what I found out about Dynamic disk from : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/225551

"Note that if the volume existed before the disk was upgraded to dynamic, it can never be extended or spanned no matter which file system it uses. If you try to extend this type of volume, you receive the following error message:

The selected volume was originally created on a basic disk and cannot be extended. Only volumes originally created on dynamic disks can be extended.

To extend or span a volume that was created before the disk was upgraded to dynamic, the volume must be deleted and re-created on the dynamic disk.

A simple volume cannot be extended or spanned in this situation because any existing basic partitions retain their partition table entries in the master boot record (MBR) so that Windows 2000 can boot from and install to the dynamic volume. Setup allows only installations and upgrades to dynamic disks that currently include the system or boot volumes. Extending or spanning a simple volume that still has a partition entry would disable this ability. "

I don't know if this applies to my computer or not. I had not upgraded my disk from basic to dynamic myself, unless it happened when I switched from Vista to Win 7.  The thing is that all of my disk volumes are dynamic and all of them shows 'extend' functionality, except my C: drive, where my OS is situatied. I don't know why this problem is with my C: drive....  Can third party tool like partition magic help me? I haven't used tools like these before...
