Hello guys:

Microsoft MDP Nepal has given a very very good platform for the Technical Professionals of Nepal. Even though we use internet, we do not make the best use of it. And whenever we wish to make the best use of internet, then electricity comes in to play. These are all the factors that we can keep apart.

Though TechNetNepal.net can be a resourcefull site to the technical pros but I feel some drawbacks on this site:

  • The FORUM is not very GOOD. There has to be a separate discussion forum called "General Discussion". If you believe me, I have spent about 15 minutes to find an appropriate place for this post. So, I feel that there are many people who are willing to learn and even talk things like this.
  • And in my opinion, it would be better had there been a PRIVATE MESSAGING facility among the users of the portal.
  • Except Aerrow, other users are totally passive, which I guess is due to the lack of a GOOD FORUM, coz all the users are getting blogs and users find it confusing about where to post their queries or thoughts.
  • The number of topics listed while attempting to make a post is very limited.

So admin, please take a look at this. These are the things that I feel about TechNetNepal.net for the time being, coz I wasn't a regular user of this portal. Since now I will visit this portal regularly, I will try to make comments on the portal's improvement and will try to post some informative materials as well...

Regards,

Kushal Gautam

Kushal,

I too belive that our forum is not good enough to provide us places on time.need to search more.............for you second point abt PRIVATE MESSAGING facility.............there is Private Messaging facality in this portal......if you want to use then just click in the name of the user who is having that post. The profile page of that use get open and there just below his pic a little word is there name Add conservation............do that........... that one works as PRIVATE MESSAGING....

Abt getting blog only 3 users had got the blog till now...........(if i am not worng then) but people are feeling confused that which thing is to blog and which things is to post in forum... and i really agree with u EXCEPT AERROW and GANDIP too i don't think others are activited in this site......... request all other friends to help their friends to share knowledge through this portal.................

And i don't think the topics are limited..........too..............

Actually I didn't find any 'add a conversation' link on th profile page, but I tried 'Add a Comment' feature with your account. And thanks for informing about that.

Secondly, I totally disagree with you about the categories that we have. In my last post I meant that there has to be a General Discussion Forum available. TechNetNepal.net thus looks available to 'Geeks' only(it is what people say, and I am conveying their comments to all the users of TechNetNepal). And I like the approach that not every user is provided the blog space coz lets start with FORUMS. This will increase the interactivity among the users. And believe me, I will try my level best to convince all my pals to be active on TechNetNepal. We all need a good co-operation from all the users.

I guess I found out the problem on 'Conversation' feature of this portal. The problem is not with the user who wants to send the private message. The problem is also on the recepient. In the profile edit options->site options at the bottom there is a feature called "Allow Conversations from Friends/All users/None". So, to start a conversation with a user, either we have to add the user in our friends list or the receiver's conversation option is PUBLIC.

yeah Compatibility Issue has always been a matter that Microsoft is suffering from. If we have a look at student-partners.com forum, even there we can find complains about the compatibility. I dunno how is this problem gonna be solved? May be there will be some additional plugins available to the IE6 users in the near future though IE6 will be very soon replaced by the higher versions.

And TechNetNepal.net's FORUM is really a silent one.....GUYS come on, have a chit chat on the problems that you face in TechNetNepa.net. Where else will you talk if you do not talk over here??

I am really having the problem on this.................. and i too agree with u kushal there is silent mode in Forum..............if we can get know if the person is online or not and can have a private messaging chat then it would have been wounderful.................. i would really love this one........ n also this if the posts are been caragorised to view then it would also have been better...... like for Hardware problem different catagory and for software different catagory.......... that makes user to surf easily and also the user to post their problems too.............

Thanks Gandip that you had mentioned it earlier. At that time, this portal was about DEAD!! And even on those times, u've been contributing to this portal and you and Aerrow have just controlled its direction. Now it's time for us to bring some life into this portal. I am trying to work on it. I'll be able to give some time to TechNetNepal after the completion of my exams. Meanwhile, let's discuss on the problems.

And Gandip, do u have other complains about this Portal? Your views will be really appreciated. Please list them out.

Furthermore, all the members of this protal are requested to share their view on this portal.

And a summary report on this discussion shall be presented to the admin of this site so that they can work on the issues.

Grow up guy as far as i know this portal is specially made for IT professionals. This is xerox of offical technet of microsoft. It would be stupid to put something like General Discussion, or online socialweb games or chat or put thread like how to install Yahoo messanger in windows.

If you are used to technet microsoft you would panic.Somethings are branded.can't help.

But to make more people to join this portal we can include something like introduction section,my software profile, custom article section, would mind if there is IRC.

If you agree just go forward. We know this portal needs a big change to happen things around.

Thank You Gandip, you are totally correct. Actually, I am not used to original TechNet of Microsoft. So didn't have knowledge of 'General Discussion'. Nepal is lacking IT Professional coz we Nepalese are still not able enough to find a way through these types of FORUMS/PORTALS. In a country with less IT Professionals, how can we expect beginners to join this kind of Portal...Believe me, I convinced so many users to join TechNetNepal, they even joined and now I'm sure that they don't even remember the URL of this portal. So what isn't there in this PORTAL, that people are running away??

And I find the admins really passive. Only Aerrow and Gandip are responding the queries or problems. They've got to work on these issues seriously. Creating a portal isn't a big success, maintaining and promoting is a bigger one.

If we want to know fact abt technetnepal then........... we have lack professional here.......... if there were enough professional here why should u and I have to reply all the queries..................... This is Our local country site not the international one................. and not only professional but also amature want to learn more from this site as it is local site......... so to guide the amature user we need have something general.............

In other word this is the step for every user to go up in international way so  i think this one should not be as harsh as international one...............
